Holiday Break Sketches Part 1 of 2

Happy New Year, everybody!  Hope you all had a relaxing holiday break.  I got some much needed r & r as I headed down to Los Angeles to visit my in-laws.  This first batch of sketches were done at Oakland Airport.  Enjoy!

It's always amazing to see the sheer variety of people on display at the airport.  You've got all sorts of body types, ages, attitudes and demeanors to capture.  Definitely great sketchbook fodder!

Well, as promised, we come to the last part of my New Orleans travel journal.  Obviously, these sketches, pictures, and notes only scratch the surface of what I experienced in this great city but I hope they helped convey the great time I had as well as the wonderful sights I saw.

Saturday rolled around and it was time to pack up again and start our long journey back home to Berkeley....

New Orleans travel journal Part 2

We finally arrived in New Orleans and our first stop was Jaques Imo's restaurant/bar (pictured below).  It was another hour and a half wait before we ate but it was totally worth it.  This next drawing was of a few locals at the bar while we were waiting.

We had the fried chicken and fries.  Sooo Goooood!

New Orleans travel journal Part 1

Hey Bloggers!  I'm back from my New Orleans trip and I'm super excited to share my sketches with you all!  I've tried to keep the sketches in chronological order and didn't really bother to take out the notes from the sketchbook since I felt it would really add to the pictures.  

sketching on the BART to the airport was really fun since there was a good assortment of interesting people on there.
It was a close call getting to the airport since there was a problem on the tracks that backed up our train and made us late by an hour and a half.  As you can see from my notes, we barely made our flight!  Since I didn't get a chance to draw people at the terminal, I made sure I drew on the plane:)
this next one is of Joy napping on the flight on our way to the stop-over in Dallas.

Hey Bloggers! Sorry for the lack of posts lately but things have been a bit crazy lately. UP has come out and is thankfully a HUGE success. I recently flew home and got some sketching done at the airport.
