Eastern Europe Travel Journal Part 1

Howdy, everybody!  A little over a month ago, I had the great fortune of traveling to Eastern Europe (Germany, Austria and Czech Republic to be exact!)

What follows is a random assortment of musings, pictures and sketches from my travel journal.  I've tried to keep them in chronological order when I could but some sketches and photos may be grouped together for better impact and clarity.

These first few pages were done  at San Francisco Airport...

After  a connecting flight from Amsterdam, my travel buddy and Pixar co-worker John and I finally arrive in Munich where we meet up with our wives, Olivia and Joy.

The girls decided to go to Germany about 10 days earlier so they had already overcome their jetlag.   Here's a picture of me and John battling our jetlag shortly after arriving in Munich:
First day in Munich feeling some jetlag.

Lovely day in Germany
We waste no time at all and began to order lots of beer and shnitzels!

...Coming back to the hotel is usually a great time to fling the windows open and sketch the local architecture.

Several days later, we get a chance to go to Schloss Neuschwanstein, one of the most famous castles in Germany and apparently, one of the inspirations for Sleeping Beauty's castle!

The cafe culture is really amazing in Europe.  You're more than welcome to stay for as long as you want and order as much coffee and/ or beer as your stomach can handle!
Trying to blend in like the locals!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my Eastern Europe Sketchbook Series!
