Happy Monday Bloggers! This is another character that I saw while sketching the other day....He was this old dude who had such leathery, weather beaten skin who was sitting outside soaking up MORE SUN (like he needed it!!!)

Snoring Away

Hey Bloggers! This is a cafe sketch I did the other day of a guy dozing off. One minute, he was reading the newspaper, the next he was snoring away. People around him started giving him dirty looks because he was so loud! Anyways, I sketched him, went home and colored this in Photoshop very quickly.

Cafe Sketch-4/23/07

Yosemite Part 2!!!

Yup, You guys guessed it...More Yosemite Photos! This first one is from our second day when it was all misty and rainy.

Check out the scale of these mountains! Those people on the valley are NOT photoshoped in!!!

And this last one was taken on a woodside hike...We saw lots of rocks and trees with moss.

I was going to sketch but was just too humbled by the breathtaking beauty of everything...Sketches just wouldn't do it all any justice...Maybe one day, I'll be brave enough to try:)

More Cafe People

More observational sketches from the local cafe! This first guy was kinda weird...He had a very slow walk and a "Mr. Bean" quality to him. He had the sleepy look and was very hunched. As you can see, I couldn't stop drawing him!!

Yosemite!! Part 1!

Hey everyone! I'm back from Yosemite and want to share some of the pictures from the trip! This first one is a panorama from the top of Upper Yosmite falls. You can see HalfDome in the distance.

On the second day, it rained which gave everything a moody feel!

This last one is a view of Vernal Falls. Joy and I got SOAKED trying to climb up to it. Not only was it wet, but also FREEZING COLD! All in all, it was a great trip and I got lots of great photos!

A New Illustration!

I was doodling in my sketchbook the other day and thought this guy would be fun to color in Photoshop...I was halfway through when I realized that it kinda looked like my friend, Matt! Matt, if you see this, don't kill me!

Anyways, my wife and I are off to Yosemite this weekend. I'll make sure to take lots of pictures (and hopefully squeeze in a sketch or two) and post them sometime next week! have a great weekend everyone:)

Hands!!!

Hey Bloggers! Thought I'd post some of my hands doodles from the ol sketchbook today! Going to school at CalArts for four years, we all had it pounded into our heads how important it was to be able to draw hands. We were alll given the Milt Kahl modelsheets of Merlin's or Roger's hands.... Drawing those hands may feel like "eating your vegetables" sometimes but a cool hand pose can really add that extra bit of oomph to your character!!

Cafe Sketch-At Arizmendi's Again

Happy Monday, Bloggers! Here's another bunch of sketches from Arizmendi's (a local pizzaria). I went during lunchtime which was perfect because it got super busy. This gave me a chance to draw lots of interesting people!

This next one is actually a composite of two different sketches. Playing around in Photoshop, I decided to combine both sketches into one. This explains why the guy is colored and the girl isnt:)
