Cafe Sketch-Lunch!!!

Hey Bloggers!! Thought I'd share some more sketches of people eating...This first one is of a very Berkley-esque woman taking her time with her pizza. By the way she ate it, you would think it was the last pizza on earth!

This next one is of a couple of asian women enjoying themselves. They were speaking Mandarin Chinese and were very animated and into their conversation.

Stay tuned next week for a special Easter Illustration!

Quotes of the Week by Dave Barry!

Hey Bloggers! Today's quotes of the week come from the insanely funny humor columnist, Dave Barry:

"Auto racing is boring except when a car is going at least 172 miles per hour upside down."

"Magnetism, as you recall from physics class, is a powerful force that causes certain items to be attracted to refrigerators."

The Marina-Part 3!!!

Hey Bloggers! Here is the next installment of the Marina series. The top one is of a really cute dog that had a very springy step as it walked. The other is of a stray cat we saw sitting on the rocks by the water. He just sat there looking at us and would occasionally sqeeze its eyes shut and open them again very slowly....Very creepy.

Happy Monday everyone!

Sketching at Arizmedi's!

The other day, I went sketching at a local pizzeria/cafe. I usually draw people but I forced myself to draw other things this time. This dog was patiently waiting for his owner to finish up.

This next one is of the view from where I was sitting...

60's Illustration

Another Photoshop illustration for all you bloggers out there. This one is my homage to the 60s. Whenever I think of that era, I always picture Jackie Onasis, North by Northwest, and cool, air-conditioned lounges (Kubrick style, of course!)

As usual, I scanned this one in and played with different brushes, colors and techniques in Photoshop. I've made it a goal to make my digital stuff feel more hand-done. I'm still struggling against the computer with that. Hope you all like it and please let me know if there's anything I can improve on!!!

My CalArts Films are now up too!

UPDATE!!! Along with my CG reel, I've created a new blog with my CalArts student films in them! You can check them out at www.cchuareels.blogspot.com . There is also a permanent link to it beneath my profile! Hope you enjoy them all:)

The Marina-Part 2

Several weeks ago, Joy and I walked around the marina. This is a photoshop piece I did which is more of an impressionistic take on the view. I purposely worked from memory and tried to capture the feel of the landscape with its cool blues, greys and whites.

We also saw this older guy who was doing calisthenic exercises on the grass right in front of us. He only did it for five minutes but each pose was gold! I was glad I had my sketchbook with me!

Superboy...Sketch to Final!!

Hey Bloggers! This here is a photoshop piece that I've been working on for the last couple of days. I'm still experimenting with Photoshop and have alot to learn. If anyone has any suggestions for improvement, please don't hesitate to drop me a line.

Here is the doodle I did the other day of "superboy" (left). I went home and started sketching a more designy version of him (right). Then I scanned it and played with some colors in Photoshop. Although I feel that Painter is more artist friendly with coloring...Do you digital folks out there prefer Painter to Photoshop?

Anyways, I've got more designs I'm working on so stay tuned for more, boys n' girls!

Cafe Sketches-Young and Old

Just a couple of pages from the ol sketchbook. The first one is of a small granny type. Her coat almost covered her whole body!!

These next ones were of a couple of kids I observed. The little girl was cying her head off because her mom wouldnt pick her up. She also had shoes that kept on making these loud squeaks everytime she took a step...

At the Marina...Part I

This weekend, my wife and I took a walk around the marina. The weather was excellent. You could see all the way to San Francisco, the sun was out and the usual cold Bay Area chill was nowhere to be found. In other words, it was perfect sketching weather! I took my watercolors with me and drew a bunch of rocks by the water.

Enjoy everyone!!

Cafe Sketches- Business as usual

Hey Bloggers! Here are some more cafe sketches for you guys out there....I really liked this firs guy's pose. He had a very authoritative way of reading his newspaper.

Both were done with pen and watercolors. Enjoy and have a great weekend.
