San Francisco Ferry Building-Then and Now
Hey Bloggers! My wife and I recently took a trip across the Bay to SanFrancisco for our 1 year anniversary. One of the coolest sights we saw was the old Ferry Building. It was opened in 1898 and for the majority of the next 40 years, this was the main water route for everyone who wanted to arrive into SanFrancisco or just cross the bay by Ferries. Needless to say, there is alot of history to this building. Here's a picture of me and Joy in front of it:
And here's how it looked around the early 1900s : (If you look all the way to the right of the picture, you can totally see some ships masts and riggings!)
Here's another picture of the Ferry Building as it was being repaired shortly after the devastating 1906 Earthquake. You can see just how demolished everything was!
Amazingly, the Ferry Building suffered very little structural damage in the earthquake and only needed minor repairs!

San Francisco Sketch Part 3-A Homeless Guy
This is another sketch in my San Francisco series. I saw this homeless man peddling for change. He had a great pose but even cooler was his expression...You could just see the years of hardship etched on his face. The guy just looked so tired and resigned to his fate. It was really a sad and depressing sight.

Kinda makes a person feel lucky to have a roof over their head at night...

San Francisco Sketch Part 2-Cool Lamp!
This was done during my lunch break outside of the Art Institute. It's located in the heart of Civic Center which is right next to the United Nations Plaza. This awesome lamp on the U.N. building caught my eye and I just had to christen my new Moleskine watercolor sketchbook by drawing this in it.

The lamp had great filigree details and a nice faded blue tint to it that just looked so european...it was really fun to drawn (and paint!)

San Franciso Sketches Part 1-The Art Institute Students!!
Last week, I was very lucky to be a substitute for someone at the Art Institue of San Francisco teaching animation. The students were really receptive and were all really eager to learn and soak up lots of animation knowledge. Because the classes were mainly lab workshops, I had the chance of sketching some of my students. Here's a couple that I liked...

Stay tuned for more of my San Francisco series!!!!! Coming soon to a blog near you!!!

Cafe Sketch-clocktower
Hey Bloggers! I'll be giving the people sketches a rest today and throw a little architecture your way! This is the view I had sitting at the plaza where I normally sketch.

My watercolors got a little muddy so I didnt color in the sky...as you can see, I filled that in later with photoshop. Now, its a nice, skyblue color! Stay tuned throughout the week for more people sketches!!

Quote of the week!
"I can win an argument on any topic, against any opponent. People know this, and steer clear of me at parties. Often, as a sign of their great respect, they don't even invite me."
