Homeless Guys

Lately, I've been observing some homeless people while sketching so I've decided to share some of those with you....

In this next one, the guy had such a great pose which for some reason, I just kept on struggling to get on paper. He was kinda dozing in and out so I just kept drawing him. Occassionally, he'd open his eyes, look around and then go back to sleep. I still feel the drawings are a bit overworked and a little stiff but I think I've captured his personality somehow.

After scanning this in, I put a layer of a brown paper bag over it....Don't really know why but it just felt right.

Your work is beautiful! I like the little series you have going here. The man dosing is coming along well. I especially like the one in the lower left hand corner. The paper bag is a nice touch.

Hi Chris,

Nice work! But you would know that already. I love the free-form style of sketch. The brown paper bag seems appropriate for this drawing.

Thanks for commenting on my 65 Chevy.

great sketches, there is a homeless guy near my office area, look very similar to the guy in your brown page drawings. He often sleeps on the bench too. IS that a brown paper bag that you draw on?

Thanks for visiting my blog! Very nice sketches, the line feels fluent and effortless. I'm guessing you sketch a lot? The texture looks great, I use a lot of them as well.

P.S. I love the Yosemite-pictures! That's definitely one of my top ten places to visit.
